Ahh, the infamous G-spot. A seemingly mystical area to some, and the holy grail of mind-blowing orgasms to others. But how much do you actually know about it?
The G-spot is named after the doctor who initially discovered it, Ernst Gräfenberg. Despite being discovered in the 1950s, it didn’t become well known until the 1980s.
Where is my G-spot and what does it feel like?
The G-spot is located on the front wall of your vagina, approximately 2-3 inches inside. The tissue in this area feels slightly ridged compared to the surrounding tissue, and becomes more prominent when you’re aroused - making it much easier to identify. G-spot orgasms are often described as feeling like ‘whole body orgasms’, as opposed to clitoral orgasms which are intense but very focused in the clitoral area.
Stimulating the G-spot
The best way to stimulate the G-spot using fingers is by using a ‘come here’ motion when they’re inside the vagina. Try repeating this motion using moderate-firm pressure. Some may find this hard to maintain after a while. If that’s the case, it may be time to introduce some toys...
A lot of G-spot vibrators have a curve to them. This is so they can be easily angled to stimulate the front wall of the vagina. These are available in a range of sizes with different settings for varying levels of vibration. There are also strap ons designed with this same curve, ideal for same-sex couples who fancy trying some G-spot stimulation!
Any sex position which provides stimulation to the front wall of the vagina is great for the G-spot. Many positions which involve vaginal penetration from behind (such as spooning or doggy style) are ideal for this. If you prefer to face your partner, don't worry - there are other options! Why not try a modified version of the more traditional cowlgirl (woman on top) position? By leaning back slightly, you can achieve more pressure on your G-spot.
Wait - do I need to wee?!
Due to the location of the G-spot, when it’s stimulated, pressure can be indirectly applied to the bladder, making you feel the urge to go. Why not go to the bathroom beforehand? This way you can fully relax, feeling confident in the knowledge that your bladder is empty.
